Picarella Trust Fund 2010 Scholarships Available Through
The James Picarella Memorial Trust Scholarship Fund will again award multiple $1,000 scholarships to Township of Washington high school seniors pursuing full-time higher education at two and four-year colleges, or other post-high school education in business, nursing, technical trades, etc. The Knights of Columbus, Mother Seton Council #5427, administrators of the Trust, will make applications available for interested candidates starting February 15. They may be obtained at the K of C Hall Members’ Room, in the rear of 79 Pascack Road, Township of Washington, NJ, between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A supply of applications will also be provided to guidance counselors in nearby schools. Applications must be returned no later than May 1. To qualify for consideration, applicants must be residents of the Township of Washington or have a father, brother, or grandfather who is a member in good standing in Council #5427. Seniors may be attending high school anywhere. Awards will be made based on scholastic achievement, community involvement, and financial need. MOTHER SETON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The scholarship committee of Mother Seton Council Knights of Columbus will again award its annual scholarship. Requirements are as follows: Amount: $1000.00 to one applicant, payable on evidence of enrollment in an accredited institution of higher education. Eligibility: Applicant must have a father, brother, son or grandfather as a member in good standing of Mother Seton Council #5427 for at least one year prior to the date of the application. Members may also apply for themselves. Applicants must be high school seniors or enrolled in any continuing educational program, but not extending beyond a bachelor degree. The program of education must be full time, in any accredited institution of higher education ¾ college or business, nursing or technical school. The scholarship committee will be made up of the Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, most recent Past Grand Knight, second year Trustee, third year Trustee, Financial Secretary and a member of the Council as chosen by the Grand Knight (7 members). The scholarship committee will select a screening committee of three from their ranks. Only those without a conflict of interest are eligible to serve on the screening committee. The scholarship will be awarded as part of the Award’s Meeting, Thursday, May 27, 2010. Information on the scholarship will be provided in The Seton Call. Applications and eligibility criteria will be available in the Members Room. No applications will be considered without a certified transcript of grades from the institution currently attended. Applications must be complete and must be received by the scholarship committee no later than May 1, 2010.
Golden Seniors Will Offer Two Scholarships
The Golden Seniors of the Township of Washington will award two $1,000.00 scholarships to Township Residents who will graduate from High School in June. They will also award three $100.00 scholarships. Applicants must reside in the Township, but can attend any High School. Applicants should plan to continue a course of higher education after High School. The successful candidates will be chosen based on scholastic achievement, service to the community, and financial need. Applications are available at the Township Public Library and at the Guidance Office at the Westwood Regional High School. Applications are due by April 15, 2010 and should be returned either to the Library or the Guidance office.
The Contemporary Woman’s Club of Washington Township
The Contemporary Woman’s Club of Washington Township will again be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reside in the Township of Washington. The scholarship is based on scholastic achievement, financial need and community involvement. The students can attend any high school. Applications will be available in the Guidance Offices of the area high schools on April 1st and must be returned to the Guidance Offices by April 30th.
