ANNUAL TAX BILL UPDATE:  Tax bills were mailed Monday, August 7, 2017.  The grace period has been extended to August 31, 2017.  The online payment portal is updated with current tax amounts. You may make your payment online by clicking here or on the box along the right side of the page that says "PAY PROPERTY TAXES ONLINE" and follow the prompts. 

TRAFFIC-RELATED SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND
 
Bergen County Operations and Statewide Striping will be making the following road/safety improvements this Saturday, August 19 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weather permitting (Sunday, August 20 is rain date):

  • Installing a crosswalk on Ridgewood Road to match up with the ramp at the Westwood Regional High School main entrance.
  • Removing the shoulder lines for eastbound Washington Avenue between Burke and Meisten Streets to allow the addition of white skip lines between Burke and Meisten to create a left turn lane.
  • Painting STOP AHEAD notices on the pavement on Van Emburgh Ave. at the northbound and southbound approaches to Washington Ave.
  • Refreshing the crosswalks, turn arrows, and white skip lines on Pascack Road at Manhattan Avenue.
  • If time permits, refreshing the same road paintings at Pascack/Ridgewood Road intersection.

2017 ROAD RESURFACING PROGRAM

UPDATE: Milling work will be completed this week.  Weather permitting, paving will begin Monday August 21 and be completed by the end of the week.

Subject to weather conditions, the work under the 2017 road resurfacing program will start on Monday 8/14 during weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and proceed in the following tentative order:

Hickory St. (North of Washington), Taylor Ave., Beech St. (North of Cross), Chestnut St. (North of Washington) Clinton Ave, Monroe Ave. (South of Washington), Walnut St. (Palm to Ridgewood), Colonial Blvd. (South to Lincoln), Mountain Ave, Manhattan Ave., Edison St., Beechwood Dr., Spice Dr. (Funded entirely by Suez Water)

WTFD CONCERT IN THE PARK!

On Friday, August 25 at 7:30 pm, the Township of Washington Fire Department has organized our first town concert in years! With the sponsorship of Oritani Bank, the famous B-Street Band will perform three sets to fill the air with great music.  Bring your food/drink and a lawn chair to Memorial Field and get ready to sing and dance. 

Admission is FREE  - all ages are welcome.  Parking will be available at the "Y".

Clark Field Tree Planting Photo Gallery

Eleven Japanese Cherry Blossoms Trees, 2 Flowering Plum Trees and 8 Boxwood Bushes were donated by Township Residents and planted at Clark Field on Saturday May 20,2017. We want to thank the Twp. residents for their donation, Stone Mill Gardens, the WT Fire Dept, and Girl Scout Troop #'s  6026, 6679 & 6957, for helping to plant these beautiful trees and bushes. Bishop Dougherty Scholarship to Michael Dugan 

Mother Seton Council #5427 of the Knights of Columbus in the Township of Washington held an Awards Night, April 27, at the Council Hall, 79 Pascack Road, to announce the winner of the K of C State-wide Bishop Dougherty Scholarship, Michael Dugan, of the Township. Michael’s dad, Kevin, is a member of Mother Seton Council, and his grandfather, Jim Dugan, is a Past Grand Knight of the council. Click here for full press release.
 

Adult Health & Wellness Program

The Twp of Washington Health Dept. in conjuction with the Health Awareness Regional Porgram of Hackensack UMC invite you to participate in this FREE program led by a registered nurse.  The program takes place at the library on the first Tuesday of the month and at the Jack Woods Senior Center (lower level) on the second Wednesday of the month. The Twp.of Washington is organizing a new Green Team to work towards making our town a more sustainable and environmentally aware community. Rite Aid "Wellness Wednesdays" for Seniors

Seniors 65 and older get 20% off almost everything the first Wednesday of every month at Rite Aid! They call it Wellness Wednesday! There is a different theme each month and they give out health related informational papers, coupons and free samples to seniors on Wellness Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm. The Rite Aid pharmacist is always ready to answer any questions, do an immunization evaluation or go over a patients medication especially on Wellness Wednesdays!

Swift Reach Registration

The Township has implemented Swiftreach Networks, Inc. as our Emergency Notification service provider. Swift911™ is a system that makes phone calls, sends text messages and emails to registerd users in the event of an emergency or important notification. •"PINK HATS" Available at Police Department

The township police department is participating in PBA 206's "Pink Hat Project" to raise funds for breast cancer research. Pink versions of the department's regulation cap are being sold for $25. Hats can be purchased at the department's headquarters. The entire purchase price of each hat will go directly toward cancer research.
 
Township Officer Struck by Vehicle 


In the early morning hours of July 20th, 2013 Officer Heather Castronova was struck by a dark colored SUV on Fern St. while issuing a parking summons.  The vehicle left the scene of the accident, continuing North making a right onto Washington Ave. heading  towards Westwood. This vehicle may have damage to the right front area. The PBA is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person involved. Anyone with knowledge of this incident is requested to call 201-664-1140, ext. 169.

Washington Twp. Volunteer Ambulance Corp is Seeking Volunteers to drive its ambulances on weekdays. Volunteer drivers are only required to take two days' worth of driving courses and a few hours of CPR classes. Anyone who is available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at least one day per week could help. Please consider this great opportunity to help your community and its residents who truly do appreciate it. Anyone interested in joining the Washington Township Ambulance Corps should call (201) 664-3784.
