NATIONAL CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY DAY - Saturday, September 23 is National Child Passenger Safety Day. On 9/23/17 the Police Department will be hosting a Child Passenger/Safety Seat inspection Checkpoint in the Municipal Building parking lot between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.  Appointments can be made to have your currently installed child passenger Safety Seats inspected or new child restraint seats installed by calling 201-664-1140.

Please note there are changes in the firehouse parking lot regulations for 2018. You must apply in person to the clerk's office located on the 2nd floor of the municipal building between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday (late days on 9/25 & 10/17). The deadline to submit your new application is October 17, 2017Click here for a new commuter parking application packet and detailed information. 

Update: A county coordinator from Habitat for Humanity will be available on Wed. 10/4 at the library from 6pm to 8pm to assist any veteran who wants to apply for the brand new living units that are assigned to veterans.  Any questions, please call Councilman Sears at 201-341-2942 

Habitat Bergen is building four (4), two-bedroom affordable units on Jefferson Avenue, two (2) are earmarked for veterans and the other two (2) are for seniors 55 and over.  Rendering pictured to the right. Election Poll Workers Needed in Our Town! The Bergen County Board of Elections is currently recruiting poll workers. This important civic responsibility is open to all registered voters in Bergen County. It is vital to the democratic process to recruit and train reliable poll workers.

2017 ROAD RESURFACING PROGRAM UPDATE: Road paving has been completed.  The contractor will be returning to address punch list items and road striping.

Clark Field Tree Planting Photo Gallery

Eleven Japanese Cherry Blossoms Trees, 2 Flowering Plum Trees and 8 Boxwood Bushes were donated by Township Residents and planted at Clark Field on Saturday May 20,2017. We want to thank the Twp. residents for their donation, Stone Mill Gardens, the WT Fire Dept, and Girl Scout Troop #'s  6026, 6679 & 6957, for helping to plant these beautiful trees and bushes. Adult Health & Wellness Program

The Twp of Washington Health Dept. in conjuction with the Health Awareness Regional Porgram of Hackensack UMC invite you to participate in this FREE program led by a registered nurse.  The program takes place at the library on the first Tuesday of the month and at the Jack Woods Senior Center (lower level) on the second Wednesday of the month. Seeking Volunteers

The Twp.of Washington is organizing a new Green Team to work towards making our town a more sustainable and environmentally aware community. The Green Team will follow the guidelines of Sustainable Jersey and offer our town venues for obtaining energy grants, improving recycling efforts, reducing our carbon footprint and hosting events.  Any interested resident is welcome to find out more about our mission or join our team by emailing Bernadette Pomykala or calling 201-664-4404. Rite Aid "Wellness Wednesdays" for Seniors

Seniors 65 and older get 20% off almost everything the first Wednesday of every month at Rite Aid! They call it Wellness Wednesday! There is a different theme each month and they give out health related informational papers, coupons and free samples to seniors on Wellness Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm. The Rite Aid pharmacist is always ready to answer any questions, do an immunization evaluation or go over a patients medication especially on Wellness Wednesdays!

BC to Host Multicultural Family Wellness Day on Sept. 16th
Multicultural Family Wellness Day will take place on Saturday, September 16th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Van Saun Park in Paramus, N.J.  There will be activities for children, face painting, dancing, and an animal van on site, along with other fun-filled activities taking place. See attached flyer

Swift Reach Registration

The Township has implemented Swiftreach Networks, Inc. as our Emergency Notification service provider. Swift911™ is a system that makes phone calls, sends text messages and emails to registerd users in the event of an emergency or important notification. •"PINK HATS" Available at Police Department

The township police department is participating in PBA 206's "Pink Hat Project" to raise funds for breast cancer research. Pink versions of the department's regulation cap are being sold for $25. Hats can be purchased at the department's headquarters. The entire purchase price of each hat will go directly toward cancer research.
Township Officer Struck by Vehicle 

In the early morning hours of July 20th, 2013 Officer Heather Castronova was struck by a dark colored SUV on Fern St. while issuing a parking summons.  The vehicle left the scene of the accident, continuing North making a right onto Washington Ave. heading  towards Westwood. This vehicle may have damage to the right front area. The PBA is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person involved. Anyone with knowledge of this incident is requested to call 201-664-1140, ext. 169.

Washington Twp. Volunteer Ambulance Corp is Seeking Volunteers to drive its ambulances on weekdays. Volunteer drivers are only required to take two days' worth of driving courses and a few hours of CPR classes. Anyone who is available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at least one day per week could help. Please consider this great opportunity to help your community and its residents who truly do appreciate it. Anyone interested in joining the Washington Township Ambulance Corps should call (201) 664-3784.
