2018 ANNUAL PROPERTY TAX BILLING UPDATE - The Township has not yet received our tax rate from the County, nor do we have a date when it will be available. Until the rate is received we are not able to prepare annual tax bills. We will keep residents informed as we receive more information. Be advised that the grace period for payment of 3rd quarter property taxes (Aug 1) will be extended 25 days from the date they are mailed.

STORAGE CONTAINERS - As per Town Code Chapter 173, Section 16.1 With construction and building projects in full swing, just a few reminders: If you have a valid construction or demolition permit in effect, a “temporary storage structure” shall be permitted within a noncommercial zone by obtaining a permit from the Building Department. Application for permit will assess the necessity and location of storage unit. Application fee of $25.00, once issued a permit fee of $125.00 for a period of 120 days from issuance of permit. If additional time is required, one-month extensions may be issued by the Building Dept. at a cost of $50.00 per month, upon prior written approval from the Twp. Council authorizing the extension. Failure to maintain a current permit, being located as designated, maintained in a sanitary & sightly condition shall constitute a violation.
RECYCLING RULES REMINDER - Plastic bags are NOT recyclable and you may not put your recyclables in plastic bags. You should put bottles, cans and containers loose in a barrel or bin. Bottles, cans and containers must be rinsed of all food and liquid. Containers with food and liquid residue are considered contamination. Plastic bags are considered contamination. We have been advised that we will be charged $175 per ton if the Township’s recycling has contamination. You may click here to view Waste Management's Recycling Quality Policy letter. COOLING CENTER - Please be advised the Senior Center is open for anyone in need during the extreme heat forcast over the next few days. The center will be open for the reminder of summer when temperatures are 90 degrees or higher. Please check in nextdoor at the police station if you will be using the facility.
ROAD WORK UPDATE: Suez Water and Creamer Construction will be connecting houses on Gabriel Way to the new water main starting on or about June 11. This work will take approximately 8 days to complete. There will be limited access to Gabriel Way, but residents will be able to get in and out. Please see an Officer at the scene if you need help. FOX - Most towns in Bergen and Passaic Counties have a thriving population of Fox. People should always be cautious when dealing with all wildlife, no matter how cute an animal is you should not attempt to catch or touch them. This is very important if the animal is injured or sick. If you find an injured or sick animal always call your police and let them dispatch professionals to handle the situation. With the nice weather finally here it is time to get out and start working on the yard. In doing so, please respect your neighbors by making sure that your landscaper only operates property maintenance machinery, such as lawn mowers, weed wackers & leaf blowers as dictated by our noise ordinances. RECYCLE YOUR OLD CELL PHONES - The Township Green Team would like to introduce the Cell Phone E-Cycling Bin now located in the lobby of Town Hall. If you have old cell phones, drop them off in the bin and they will be recycled. *Please remember to remove any data on your phone.
