*2021 SUMMER REC CAMP  - FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM  @twpsummerrec

We are pleased to announce that the Township of Washington Summer Camp will be running this year. Our dates for camp will be June 28th through August 6th. We have and will continue to monitor state and local guidelines and send out information regarding new protocols throughout the months leading up to the start of camp to all registered campers.

Registration opened for Township of Washington residents on May 1, 2021 at 7:00 AM and out of town residents on 5/15/21. Registration will end on June 15th, 2021, however the ability to sign up for before care and after care will still be available.

F.A.Q.'s on Summer Rec:

  1. Mask Policy - Things are constantly changing but the Governor will be making masks voluntary for all vaccinated people both indoors and outside today. We may or may not go with this policy. More info will follow soon. For now, campers will be wearing masks when indoors at the fully air-conditioned Bethany Community Center. When outside, we will follow the next set of guidelines that comes out. We are assuming it will be to wear masks only when huddled in large groups. Of course, if you want your child in a mask at all times, that can be communicated to my staff.
  2. Calendar - We have been holding off as long as possible because we want to add trips but have been waiting for the guidelines to settle down. We cannot use busses if we can't fill them as the cost is too much for us to handle. We have already added 4 walking trips to the Twp. Theatre and those will be up on Community Pass by the weekend. Cost and information will be on CP as well. We are looking to start adding at least 1 or 2 of our traditional trips (Lake Tomahawk and possibly another outdoor venue).
  3. Activities - Obviously, we will need to modify some of the activities that we have done in the past. In place of our traditional Friday waterslides, for this year, we will be having more Fire Department Wetdowns and more sprinkler usage. As the Twp Pool is not opening this year, we will be getting access to the BCC pool on a daily basis. We are unsure if each camper (grades 2-8) will swim every day, but they will swim more than once a week (like we used to) and at this point, it is being included in your regular fee. Each day, campers will participate in organized sports, games, competitions, and arts and crafts. We will also have special days noted on the calendar.
  4. Camp shirts - Due to the rising costs of everything  (except our registration fee - yay) and needs for COVID-related supplies, we had to find a way to cut back and with no trips on the agenda until now, we had to cut out camp shirts this year. We will ask that if your camper is going on any of our walking trips, he/she/they wear a red t-shirt. With 95% of our campers in the local school district, this color should be easy.
  5. Background Checks - ALL our camp counselors (18 and older) have gone through a background check process before being hired to ensure the safety of our campers.

We will be sending out loads more information over the next week and a half. If you have any questions, please email the Summer Camp Director, Chris Pinto here
