Cooling Center Procedure

TWP OF WASHINGTON COOLING CENTER USE PROCEDURE
 
• The Township of Washington will make available to its residents in the case of an extreme heat and lose of electrical power emergency, a “Cooling Center”. The Cooling Center will be located in Town Hall specifically, the “Jack Woods Senior Center”. The hours of operation are: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM and can be utilized when temperatures are forecasted to reach 90 degrees or higher and when Public Service Utility electrical power is lost to a single residence or in a partial or entire service area. Should an individual resident suffer a malfunction of their household cooling system the Township will also make the Cooling Center available.

• A CERT Team Member or Police Officer will instruct residents making use of the cooling center to sanitize their hands using the motion sensor hand sanitizing dispenser on the wall. Residents will be required to wear a face mask to enter Town Hall and while in the Cooling Center. If they do not have a face mask a disposable surgical face mask will be provided to them.

• The CERT Team Member or Police Officer will check the resident’s temperature with a point and shoot style thermometer upon checking them in. If a resident’s temperature is over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit the resident will be refused admission to Town Hall. The CERT Team Member or Police Officer will have the resident complete, sign and date the COVID-19 Daily Pre-screening Questionnaire / Liability Waiver. If the visitor is exhibiting symptoms consistent with COVID-19 they will be denied further access to Town Hall and the CERT Team Member or Police Officer will strongly suggest they seek immediate medical attention.
