Golden Seniors of the Twp. of Washington

The Golden Seniors of the Township of Washington was founded in 1982, as its By-laws state, “to provide wholesome recreation and pastimes that create outlets and diversions to uplift morale above the daily routine.” As with any organization, the need for new members to keep it fresh is the why we are reaching out to the ‘younger’ (60 and older) seniors who reside in the Township to join us.

The Golden Seniors meet monthly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, except for July, August, November, and December at the Jack Woods Senior Center located in Town Hall.  The first meeting is a business meeting where reports on ongoing activities are given by the officers and the chairs of the various committees. The second meeting is a social meeting that usually features a guest speaker or entertainment following an abridged order of business. The meetings start at noon with coffee and Danish served and members socializing until the start of business at 1 p.m. The meetings typically end by 2 p.m.

Any resident of Washington Township interested in joining The Golden Seniors can come as a guest to a meeting to meet the folks. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Senior Center in Town Hall. If you wish to join, there is an initiation fee of $20 and the annual dues are $10. For more information, call Jim Joyce at 201-664-6725.

*To keep us all fit, there is a town-sponsored exercise program at the Senior Center on Tuesdays from 11:00 am to noon. The program starts on January 15 and continues throughout the year.
