CENSUS 2020 - On March 12th, letters were sent out to residents requesting you complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. - The BCUA’s April 5th Household Hazardous Waste collection event scheduled for Bergen Community College has been canceled. Until further notice, the BCUA has suspended its electronics recycling program and composter sales at its Little Ferry/Moonachie facility
- The BCUA's April 26th Tire/Electronic/Paper Shredding event, scheduled for Bergen Community College has been canceled.

2019 Road Program – The Council has on its agenda a vote to accept the bid and award the contract for the program. The work should commence in April or May depending on the weather. Two valid things prevented it from being done last year. The Council did not authorize the bid to go out until more than a full month later than they did in 2018, and we hired a new Town Engineer that wanted extra time to get familiar with our roads. I rather we delayed the program six months than rush it though.
Intersection – We now have enough information from the County to commence the property acquisition phase of the project.
DMF – We have started our search for out of town properties to house the personnel and equipment temporarily while the building gets demolished and the soil gets remediated. I’m hoping to have a location identified in March.
New Ambulance and Fire Building – There was a meeting last week attended by myself, Councilman Cumming, the Architect and members from both organizations to finalize the plan for the building. The Architect now has what he needs to prepare the bid specs to go out to bid later this month or next.
Ambulance and Fire Department Annual Reorganization Dinners – It’s an honor and privilege to be invited to and attend these annual dinners with our spouses to swear their respective officers in for the new year, and thank them for all their service to the Town and its residents.
Town Calendars – I hope you have received the 2020 calendar. I want to recognize Bernadette for being the point person in consolidating all the info the department heads provided, getting Sponsors to defray the cost to the taxpayers, and working with the printer on the format and mailing. It’s not an easy job.
Recreation – Background checks will start to occur for the coaches in the next sport of the year which is Lacrosse.
Website and Facebook – We have done a soft release of the updated website and our new Facebook page. They will continue to be tweaked. When I checked the Facebook page over the weekend, we already had over 280 people liking and following the page. We welcome your comments about them.
Commuter Bus – Our neighbors in Montvale and Woodcliff Lake have worked with a new bus company, HIP, to service their residents needs that are being ignored by our current bus provider. The CEO of the company is attending our next Pascack Valley Mayors meeting to tell us more about what they provide. I would appreciate it if the commuters could visit their website at ridehip.com and let me know via email at firstname.lastname@example.org if it’s something you would be interested in.
2020 DOG / CAT LICENSE REGISTRATION FORM - All dog / cat licenses were due 1/31/2020
*ADDITIONAL $25 LATE FEE begins 3/1/20. Letters are going out from Tyco mid March followed by summonses in April if still not paid.
Local Ordinance requires that dogs and cats 7 months or older must be licensed. All pet licenses expire on January 31 of each year. Licenses renewed after January 31 are subject to an $5.00 late fee, licenses renewed after March 1 are subject to a $25.00 late fee. Rabies vaccine must be valid to November 1 of each license year. (Cats are not subject to a fine).
If you are mailing in your license form, you must include a copy of the rabies vaccine certificate along with a copy of the spayed/neuter information. Please make all checks payable to the "Township of Washington" and enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for your license to be sent. Dogs are not permitted to run at large. Owners may be subject to fine. All forms can be found under Health Dept. Forms on this page (upper right).
