• MOSQUITO CONTROL PUBLIC NOTICE
In compliance with Section 9.10 of the New Jersey Pesticide Control Code the Bergen County Dept. of Public Works -Mosquito Control Division, will be applying pesticides for the control and reduction of adult mosquito populations on an area-wide basis as needed throughout BERGEN COUNTY during the period from April 30, 2019 to October 31, 2019. • RECYCLING RULES REMINDER - Plastic bags are NOT recyclable and may be placed in with your household garbage. You may not put your recyclables in plastic bags, you should put bottles, cans and containers loose in a barrel or bin. Bottles, cans and containers must be rinsed of all food and liquid. Containers with food and liquid residue and plastic bags are considered contamination.  We have been advised that we will be charged $175 per ton if the Township’s recycling has contamination. • 2019 SUMMER CONCERT SERIES AT MEMORIAL FIELD

Back by popular demand, the township will host two summer concerts this summer at Memorial Field.  The first concert will be held July 12th at 7:00pm and feature Asbury Fever, the second concert will be held July 19th at 7:00 pm and feature Rubix Kube.  Click the flyer to the right for additional details. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PROJECT - VOLUNTEER   
Habitat Bergen is building four (4), two-bedroom affordable units on Jefferson Avenue, two (2) are earmarked for veterans and the other two (2) are for seniors 55 and over.  Go to habitatbergen.org for information - Go to the volunteer opportunities calendar to sign up for Township project.

GOLDEN SENIORS Always Looking for New Members Any resident of Washington Township interested in joining The Golden Seniors can come as a guest to a meeting to meet the folks. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Senior Center in Town Hall. If you wish to join, there is an initiation fee of $20 and the annual dues are $10. ADULT HEALTH  & WELLNESS PROGRAM
The Twp of Washington Health Dept. in conjuction with the Health Awareness Regional Porgram of Hackensack UMC invite you to participate in this FREE program led by a registered nurse.  The program takes place at the library on the first Tuesday of the month and at the Jack Woods Senior Center (lower level) on the second Wednesday of the month. RITE AID "Wellness Wednesdays" FOR SENIORSSeniors 65 and older get 20% off almost everything the first Wednesday of every month at Rite Aid! They call it Wellness Wednesday! There is a different theme each month and they give out health related informational papers, coupons and free samples to seniors on Wellness Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm. The Rite Aid pharmacist is always ready to answer any questions, do an immunization evaluation or go over a patients medication especially on Wellness Wednesdays!

Swift911™ is a system that makes phone calls, sends text messages and emails to registerd users in the event of an emergency or important notification. • PASCACK VALLEY JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY-The Township of Washington / Westwood / Emerson Police Department’s Community Policing Units will conduct a JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY for qualified boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14. This 5-day program will be held at Westwood High School June 24 thru June 28. The daily schedule is from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. Please click here for an application.


CAUGHT ON CAMERA:  Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who was captured on video attempting to burglarize a Township home on Wednesday evening (11/21). Around 6:30 p.m., a security camera outside a home on Hampshire Rd in the Twp, captured the male suspect walking up to the front door, looking into the home and then leaving, according to police. To view video click here.

WTFD ICE DRILL

On 1/16/18 Twp. of Washington Fire Department conducted an ice drill on Schlegel Lake.  The Fire Department cut a hole in the ice and lowered a volunteer Fireman.  Several ongoing mock rescues were conducted.  Rescues were conducted by foot and by sled.  Local Boy and Cub Scouts were on hand to observe and learn from the drill.  Click image for photo gallery of event.


Washington Twp. Volunteer Ambulance Corp is Seeking Volunteers to drive its ambulances on weekdays. Volunteer drivers are only required to take two days' worth of driving courses and a few hours of CPR classes. Anyone who is available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at least one day per week could help. Please consider this great opportunity to help your community and its residents who truly do appreciate it.
